How to patch 1.7 to Call of Duty 4 on Mac?

I downloaded Call of Duty 4 for my mac (free torrent) and the campaign works fine, but its the online multiplayer I need help with. I can’t connect to any server without version 1.7 and every time I try to update to 1.7 the installer says my CoD 4 wasn’t installed correctly. Is there any way to get around that and still update to 1.7? Thanks

    Hey guys!
    There can be 2 problems.
    One – You downloaded the 30mb sized patch which you can install only if you have 1.6 installed.If yes then download the full 1.7 patch which is 260mb.
    Two – If not the first was your problem then you downloaded the incorrect patch.There are a normal patch for Cd version of game and a digital patch for the non-Cd version.
