Basically, what made the original call of duty games good was that people could use their own servers that they owned or rented to host games. They could control the rules, the map, mods, pretty much whatever they wanted.

In MW2, it’s basically the same as a console, you get next to no options to set up your games, you’re forced to play the standard game with no support for mods or gameplay options at all. With dedicated servers, you can usually pick a few with gametypes/maps/mods that you like and have cool people and just keep going back and you’ll know that you’ll get what you want, since you picked it out. With no dedicated servers, you’re stuck with all defaults and it’s harder to build up a group of friends on a server and such.

There are no Servers for the PC for MW2.

Well, technically there *are* servers for the PC for MW2. The first one(s) is/are the server(s) you connect to to look for a game. Then, there is the fact that even though you play P2P with the other players, one of the computer in each game is set-up randomly as the game server…but no one knows whom it is unless the person on the Host Computer rage quits.

As for hacking and cheating…yes, there are both hackers and cheaters by the dozens if not hundreds. I’d say there is probably a 20% ratio of slimebags to gamers.

    Examples of Cheating:
    10th Prestige Lobbies
Private Matches where each player alternatively plays unresponsive victim and aggressor (i.e.: to obtain achievements/level-up)
Glitching – this is where you find a glitch on a map and abuse it. For example, a place that allows you to see your opponent and shoot him/her, but they can neither see you or shoot you.
    Hacking
Boosting (see private matches note above).

    Examples of Hacking:
Using a program not part of the game to do something.
i.e.: shoot through obstacles as if they were not there / take no damage from any amount of hostile activity / obtaining and using a nuke that you didn’t earn / one-shot-one-kill even with weapons not capable of doing that much damage / etc.

As for buying it for the On-Line game only…considering that the campaign is a laughable 2 hours…that might actually be the only reason to buy it. If you *are* interested in a CoD campaign of a decent length, CoD 4, WaW, CoD2 and earlier.

    Good Luck!
