Question by : What year does the modern warfare 3 campaign take place in?
Jus wondering. In one part it says the year and said 2016. But te the title is MODERN warfare. Not FUTURE warfare

Modern would be considered 2016…
It’s only 4 years from now.
Future warfare would be like 30 years

2016. Future warfare is like that ghost recon future soldier how all the guns are so technologically advanced and modern warfare has the same guns as mw2 and cannot be considered future.

It occurs in 2016. “Modern” doesn’t entail being exactly at this point in time. It’s pretty much just warfare with (or close to) our technological capabilities at the moment. Future warfare would have something like everyone with laser rifles and things that are currently out of our technological reach. With how fast we’ve been advancing, you can’t exactly put a year to it.
