I think there will be some links to the previous games, but there probably won’t be many if the links from MW2 to MW1 were any indication.
What do you think? Answer below!

MW2 extends the story from MW1, and MW3 will continue from MW2. Personally I absolutely hate the franchise. Its over hyped and the online play isn’t that great, but the story is actually neat. I’d play it for the story if nothing else. So yeah, I’d say its a good investment to play through the first two. You can do it in a day if you dedicate yourself to it.
Abuse Gamestops return policy and you’ll have them both completed within 24 hours and have money left over to put down on a pre-order for MW3

You should be able to play MW3 and gain somewhat of an understanding of the story line. But yes, the MW3 story will be a continuation of the MW2 story, which was a continuation of the MW1 story. If you want to know the whole story, and be able to pick up on the small things, I definitely suggest playing the 1st two MW’s as well. It is a great story line, and the multiplayer in both games is very engaging. You will get more than your money’s worth from both titles, and learn the complete story line at the same time. World at War and Black Ops are completely different story lines, but they are basically the exact same style of gameplay. This is true for pretty well all the Call of Duty games. I started playing Call of Duty games with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and haven’t stopped playing them since. All the games have their own down sides, but they are all overly entertaining nonetheless.

i would get mw2 and mw1 there cheap and fun , the campagin is better on mw2 and mw1 then black ops and waw
you will notice when you play mw2 or mw3 that its much faster then black ops

Dude its a prerequisite to play those games before playing MW3 or else your console is going to explode.
